Memorial Day Weekend

I wanted to say a thank you to every man or woman that has fought for my freedom. Without you I would not enjoy the amazing country and independence that I do. Thank you to my Grandpas who left their homes to serve and my Grandmas who took care of things here so they could. Thank you to my cousins, friends, and others that are right now defending the freedom of those who need help. You are great examples. I am thankful for leadership in our country that has defended our homes and made the hard choices. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
We spent the weekend with family. Ryan's sister Kacey and her friend Lauren came in on Friday and we spent the next few days with them and Zach and Alison playing games, watching movies and eating tons of food. (Thanks Alison for introducing us to Paninis, oh-my-gosh-yummy!!!) Then on Monday morning we went to the traditional Brewer family breakfast. It was nice to see cousins and aunts and uncles that we don't see very often. It was a beautiful day and we had a great time.
This is Eric at the park during the breakfast.
This is Kacey and Lauren. (I think they were supposed to be sisters and just now found each other.) It was so much fun to have them here. They were huge helps and even babysat so Ryan and I could to to the Temple. Thanks girls, you're welcome back anytime.
Eric loved the park and learned how to slide down the pole.
And for certain, Beth has to do everything her brother does.
We had a good time together.
Grampy and Grammy
Relaxing with the big people, yeah, I'm cool.
After the breakfast, we all went hiking up Rock Canyon. (I'm very grateful for all the help we had in carrying Eric and the water.) With that help we made it further up then I thought we would. On the way down, just before the parking lot, Eric tripped and wiped out! Skinned both his knees, the palms of his hands and one elbow. In the car on the way home we heard him telling his owees, "You stupid owees! You stop hurting!"
This is Alison and Eric on the way up.
How Beth spent the whole hiking trip.

Happy Birthday Ryan!

I think I should start this by saying that Ryan is the best part of my life. I am more thankful for him every day and very much enjoyed a day to celebrate his life. He is the most caring, thoughtful, hardworking and wonderful man. He is the best father and his kids, as well as his wife, adore him. We love you Ryan!

We had a good morning with the traditional candle-in-the-breakfast-food (this year cinnamon streusel muffins) that his family has always done. Then it was off to work for Ryan where he took a half day and enjoyed an ice cream party with his co-workers before coming home. By 5:30 we had Zach and Alison over for a steak dinner (complete with the Alleman Jello, marshmallows included) followed by presents and cake and homemade ice cream. By that time the kids were so wired and sugar-buzzed that it was off to bed or insanity. We chose the first.
These are the breakfast birthday muffins.

Some of the decorations we put up in the house. Kitchen.

Family room.

The birthday boy.

This is the card that the kids picked out for him, it had lots of room for them to write and color on.

We love making him smile.

Eric knew that dad "really wanted" help opening all his presents.

I don't think that Ryan opened a single one without his help.

Our crazy boy likes birthdays almost as much as his father.

We did try to restrain him at times, but it was short lived. Beth just loved inspecting all of the gifts. She was thrilled with all the wrapping paper and new things. (But I think her favorite part was taking them one by one over to Zach. I wonder what he bribed her with?)
Can you believe, looking at that cake, that I didn't even put all 30 candles on it? Ryan was sweet enough to let Eric help him blow out them out. If this picture is hard to see it's because there is so much smoke in the house that we got a little smoke inhalation damage.
Thank you to Alison for taking all the pictures for us. It was a huge help. This is the video of Beth taking all the presents over to Zach.
Testimony of the wired and sugar-buzzed kids.

It was a great day.

Biker Baby, BBQ and Brain Damage

Our new biker baby.
Coy and cute
We had a BBQ with Zach and Alison this last Saturday. They have a great outdoor space for kids. The food was great and the company better. We all had a great time. This is Eric running and knocking Ryan over.
Beth was showing Uncle Zach the Easter egg she found.
That is the biggest "monkey on my back" I have ever seen.
After watching this video of the kids playing together so many things become clear. Any brain damage really isn't my fault.

The Father and Son Campout

Ryan here. This weekend was the Father and Son's Campout so Eric and I struck out with Uncle Zach to Rotary Park near Hobble Creek. It was a beautiful spot and the weather was great.
Here's Eric eating his Lunchables with Zach right after we got the tent up.
These pants are 5 slim's and they still won't stay up! Poor kid has a cracked future.
"What'd you say about my pants?!"
Taking a breather on one of Zach's camping chairs.
The kids were playing 500 and this was a ball "dead or alive."
The stake put on a quick fireside about the restoration of the Aaronic Priesthood. You can see Eric falling asleep in Zach's arms.
Eric's first cooked-on-the fire s'mores. Or as he calls them: "Marshmallow sandwiches."
One of the dad's from the ward had the brilliant idea of bringing along these little glo-sticks for his kids. It's a great way to keep track of said kids in the dark, and the kids had a blast with them. Eric called them his "swords" and went all Errol Flynn.
My little swashbuckler.
En Garde, Daddy! (Sorry it's so dark).

At Last!

The effort of putting a braid in Beth's hair is the result of two things. 1- I am behind on the wash and out of clean clothes; and 2- I really need to go shopping for more summer clothes for the kids and this has made it necessary to put Beth in some of Eric's old clothes, which makes her look like a little boy with long hair. Therefore!!!!, I had to do something. So this is what I did. . .

Oh how I love having a little girl!

Ring-Around-The-Rosie

This is Eric emptying the dishwasher. You can also see the scratch over his eye, I don't have any idea where he got it.

This is Beth dancing. She loves to dance, and will, to any music she hears. This is Eric and Beth dancing to ring-around-the-rosie.

Just An Update

Eric has taken to painting and loves it.

Really, what can I say about these?
