Family Update

We got new Sunday clothes for the kids because they both outgrew the ones they had. We went over to Kid-to-Kid and found a few dresses for Beth and a new shirt and pants for Eric. We have the hardest time finding pants with a small enough waist and long enough legs. He has no butt! It’s so hard to get anything to stay up! Of course just because we found a pair that would stay up doesn’t mean that it stopped him from pulling all his clothes off during primary, which he did. He got very upset when they insisted that he leave his paints on. Drama, forever drama. It does bring some great spice to life.

We received good news this week; Ryan won a short story contest and has been asked to present it at the English Department’s Reading Series at the end of this week. This is just a preview of things to come. I am so happy for you Ryan. Congratulations. He is making great progress on his thesis and the goal is to be done in April. He signed up his committee chair this last week, but Ryan still needed one more member. The committee chair recommended a professor in a different department, and even sent a glowing email (he mailed a copy of it to Ryan) to this other professor about how great Ryan’s work is and how he’s going places. It’s great to hear that his teachers, who are published authors, say that Ryan is an “Up and Coming” author.

Thanks to Ryan

So I think it is only fair to give credit to my politically minded husband for this cartoon. Not that I love McCain but I cringe at the thought of "President Obama".

A Video of Beth

Here is a little clip of Beth in her walker. Also of Eric stepping on my hand and saying he was sorry. Hope you all enjoy.

I think I figured out the stupid camcorder.

I believe that I finally figured out how to get the info from the camcorder to the computer. Well, actually I had nothing to do with it, Mary figured it out. Thank you Mary for spending so much of your time to help computer-challenged me. But I think it was worth it in the end; it means that those family members far away that would like to see the kids now can. At least, you can see Eric waving a banana in Beth's face and never letting her get it. Thanks Mary.

Sunday Antics

We wanted to get some pictures of the kids in their Sunday outfits. If you look really closely at this one, you can see Beth's two little teeth.
These two are so much fun to watch when they play together. Beth giggles at everything Eric does, and Eric is very gentle with her. The other day, he was riding up and down the tile on his trike, and Beth kept following and blocking his way in her walker. He'd tell her to get out of the way and she'd just laugh.
Eric, like every other big brother, is a big tease. He loves playing with Beth's ears.
But at least they love each other!
We hope you all are having a nice Sunday!

Eric

Eric is starting to repeat things that he hears… I was talking on the phone and ignoring him as he said “Mommy, mommy, mommy, mommy, mommy…” When he noticed that I was not paying attention to him he said, “Cassie, Cassie, Cassie.” I stopped in my tracks and asked him where he heard that. He said, “A little bird out the window.”

Another time, last weekend, Eric was helping me make breakfast in the kitchen and he spilled the baking soda all over the counter. I caught my breath, but before I even got the chance to say anything, he said, “Oh crap, oh crap, oh crap.”

Bike Riding and Looking Cute

Bundle of Joy!

Blowing kisses.

Swimming

We spent the last few day of summer weather out back in our little blow-up pool. It was on a hill so one end had lots of water and the other was empty. Perfect for Eric and Beth, he had water to splash in and she could touch it but not sit in it.
