Ruby Valley

Two weeks ago our whole family was able to go out and see Mary in Ruby Valley, Nevada for the weekend and meet all of Sam’s family. When we got there we got out of the car to see a bunch of cows. Eric excitedly run up to them and said, “Oh hello, moos!” He loved every minute of seeing cows, horses, cats, kittens, dogs and goats. We even got to see a cattle branding/castration. We all had the chance to ride horses and Eric showed no fear whatsoever. In fact, it was hard to keep him from walking up to random horses and trying to climb up the stirrups.

Beth and I were also able to go to Mary’s bridal shower. Mary sure is loved by the ladies there in the valley. Beth also won them all over after just a few minutes. By the way, Mary, is our gift coming in handy? Is it helpful?

My only regret is that we did not take more pictures, it is a beautiful place. Here are a few of the ones we did get.

Here is Eric up on Peach.

Ryan said he felt like a "dude" but he did a great job.

Here is Beth making eyes at Sam's mom Kathy.

Sam and Mary

I Just Love Being Sick!

Why is it when your kid gets sick it is just a matter of time before they share it with the whole family? Now, far be it for me to protest against sharing but come on! Although I am happy to say that despite being sick Beth is still our happy baby. Eric has done well too, only a little grumpy. We hope to be past this icky stuff before next week when we have the whole Alleman family here for Zack’s wedding. Awwwwww, our little brother is growing up.

We are really very excited for Alison to be joining the family and very glad that they are both so happy together, and that she’s not afraid of joining this crazy crew.

Speaking of weddings, my little sister is getting married! I am also very relieved to say that I really like the guy. He will be a great addition to the family and I think, he’ll take great care of Mary. This also means that Beth will go on her first plane ride in June when we head to Texas for the wedding. Here’s a very cute picture of the two the engaged couple…

First Time Blogger

This is my first attempt at blogging. I created this after hearing a family member say how much they loved reading blogs for their family that live far away. I love to read my sibling’s blogs so why not create my own?

I am very happy to announce that Beth slept through the night, a full 9 hours, for the first time last week! She was just 71/2 weeks old. Now, I know that this is not a permanent thing yet, but it gives me great hope for the near future. She now sleeps regularly 5 to 6 hours a night so I can't complain too loudly.

I swear that the kids have a pact to never allow me a nap during the day. Last week I had some bad nights and I was very much in need of a nap. Beth was asleep but Eric was giving me a hard time about going down. I finally said that Mommy was going to take a nap and I would see him later. After making sure that he would be safe I settled myself in bed. I then heard Eric come out of his room and close his door. He then proceeded to take the next 10 minutes and carefully sneak down the hall, across my floor and into bed with me. I was studiously ignoring him until he was next to me in bed and looked up at me, tucked his hands behind his head in a relaxed position and said with surprise, "Oh, hi mommy".I just love this little boy; he is such a joy and keeps me so busy that my head spins. Life is great.
